Shakti Rising

A Yoga REtreat to RECLAIM SACRED FEMININE WISDOM

SANTA TERESA, COSTA RICA, March 23-30 2019

Awaken your Joy, Reclaim your Radiance, Embody your sacred power

This is an invitation to embark on a powerful journey of self discovery and growth, as we’ll decode and peel away the layers of conditioning which have kept our wisdom as women locked away. Together we’ll reclaim sacred feminine wisdom practices, so we may each flourish authentically as the unique, beautiful goddesses that we are.

Join Nancy Goodfellow and Chantal Russell for a seven day yoga retreat on the beach to create a personal practice which honours our place within the cycles of the earth, the moon and our own lives as women. We will uncover ways to reclaim what has for too long been taken from us and rise up with presence, power and purpose. Nourish your body, replenish your well, and remember who your are beyond the demands of everyday life. Recharge amidst the beauty of Costa Rica; soak up the sun and swim in the life giving waters of the warm Pacific Ocean.

Each day we’ll weave yoga, movement and meditation practices with elemental earth wisdom. The flow of the week will be inspired and informed by nature's four elements: Earth, Water, Fire and Air. Working with each one, we’ll explore its energy and qualities within and around us; honouring our lunar and own menstrual cycles. We will journey within and begin to release, redefine, and remember; coming home to our innate female intuition and cultivating a sacred sense of empowerment, self-love, trust, vitality and authenticity as women and sisters on this path.

This journey is for you if:

- You want to dive deeper into your true goddess nature

- You recognise the call of supportive sisterhood and coming together to share, grow, heal and be witnessed and heard in this

- You want to cultivate a more profound connection to nature, the earth and the natural rhythms that govern our daily lives

- You have somehow lost touch with your intuition, sense of power and self-belief

- You are stressed, exhausted or feel stuck - creatively, sexually, energetically, socially...

- You already have a spiritual practice but would like to deepen and expand it

- You are new to spirituality, meditation or any kind of inner work but feel a call to explore your inner sky

- You have lost touch with your unique female gifts or would like to learn new ways to fully embrace your sacred feminine essence

- You would like to learn how to honour and understand your menstrual cycle as the sacred and empowering gift that it is

Principal themes that we will use and explore:

  • Altar work

  • Meditation and breath

  • Intention setting and purpose

  • Journalling

  • Guided earth-based practice and ceremony

  • Lunar and menstrual cycle awareness and ritual

  • Honouring the female archetypes

  • Creative exploration

  • Nutrition

  • Aromatherapy and plant allies

Come and join the journey.

INDULGE yourself. The moment you say yes to acting on your desire is the real beginning. This is a very intimate and exclusive retreat with limited space available. We are looking forward to enjoying la pura vida with you. Included in the retreat are your accommodations, daily yoga classes (2 per day) breakfast and dinner, and women's wisdom circles.

What’s not included?

Airfare and ground transportation are not included. Lunch is not included, giving you the option to enjoy a late breakfast or sample one of the surrounding cafe's. Surfing lessons, massage, zip lining and other tours are available and can be booked on site when you arrive.

And if I want to surf?

Playa Hermosa (10 minute walk from the hotel) is a long sandy beach with easy going beach breaks, well suited for beginners. Playa Santa Teresa presents a variety of beach breaks, point breaks and high swells for the more experienced surfer. Take surf lessons from the experienced instructors and head out before or between yoga classes.

What to bring?

Bring a yoga mat, a journal, sun hat, bathing suits, sunscreen, beach clothes, yoga clothes and anything you'd like to place on the altar.

How do I get there from here?

The closest international airport is San Jose (SJO), which is serviced by most major airlines including Air Canada, United, Delta and American Airlines.

From San Jose, the fastest and most comfortable way to get to Santa Teresa is to take a local flight on Sansa Regional to Tambor (TMU). You can fly directly to Tambor from SJO without having to change airports.

From Tambor, there is a taxi service available that will bring you directly to Pranamar for $65 USD.

The more adventurous, much longer and a little less comfortable way to Santa Teresa from San Jose isby bus.  You would have to take a taxi from San Jose airport to the “Coca Cola” bus station in the city (Bus stop name is Nueva Megaterminal, Avenida 7, Calle 10, contiguo al Cine Líbano). Please note there are only 2 direct departures for Mal Pais/Santa Teresa per day, 6:00am and 2:00pm, so be sure to give yourself lots of time from your flight to the bus station, or make plans to spend a night in San Jose. For bus schedules, visit http://nicoyapeninsula.com/general/busses.php

What if I need to cancel after I book?

A $500 non-refundable deposit fee is required upon registration. Final payment is due by December 1st. Accommodation type is not guaranteed until payment is received in full. Accommodation selection is on a first come/first serve basis.

What currency is used in Costa Rica?

The local currency is colones, but most places accept US dollars. The exchange is roughly 500 colones = 1 USD.

Best to bring a bit of both. Note that there are a couple banks in Santa Teresa, but it’s always more convenient to have the amount you’ll need for the week before you arrive, it’ll save you a trip to town.
